Message : I've been thinking about upgrading my ignition system, but don't want to buy the HKS Twin Power Ignition Amplifier just yet, that damn thing is like $450. So what I want to know is would it be worthwhile to upgrade my spark plugs and wires now? I've got a 91TT, and might bring it to stage 3 later this summer. If I were to upgrade my wires and plugs, which ones are the right ones for my car now?

: What all goes into a fully upgraded ignition system anyway?

We don't use the kind of plug wires that most cars use. So basically those upgraded plug wires are no use or help to us. As for the plugs, there really isn't an "upgrade"... we use specific plugs for certain mod applications on the Z. If you plan a stage 3 TT mod in the summer, you're going to want a cooler heat range set of plugs (NGK Platinum #6 - PFR6B-11B). They aren't as "hot" as the stock plugs but they help to ward off detonation. Doesn't mean we gain extra hp.

To upgrade the ignition system on a Z32, the only real way of doing this is to use the HKS Twin Power Ignition which is kind of a waste of money at this point and even at Stage 3.

Just my 2 cents.
